There are so many injustices in the world, so many huge things that we can hardly get our minds around, let alone find some specific way we can help. Well, the amazing Colleen Mondor and Guys Lit Wire have teamed up with this fabulous idea, to create a cyber book fair for Navajo and Apache schools and fill their poor, starved libraries with BOOKS! It’s shocking in this day and age that some kids have never owned a book, or that library shelves stand bare. One of the things I so love about this book drop is that there is actually something specific I can do to contribute to it. I had great fun picking out titles, choose a couple of my sons’ favorites, loving that they would have a shared experience with these kids through a book.
They are making is super easy by running it through Powell’s online, and some of the books on the wish lists are used copies and dirt cheap. So if you have an extra $10 or feel like giving up a latte or two this week, you can be secure in the knowledge that you will have done something wonderful for these kids.
